In a letter sent at the end of November to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, seven leading national education organizations, including the American Federation of School Administrators, the American Association of School Administrators, The School Superintendents Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the American School Counselor Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Education Association and the National PTA strongly urged Congress to reinstate a strengthened federal assault weapons ban.
